The prices listed here are for well centered, undamaged stamps. The value of an individual stamp is dependent on its centering and condition. Use these values as a guideline for evaluating the reasonableness of dealer prices, setting up trades with other collectors, and estimating the worth of your collection. Stamps from 1898 were printed on medium, white paper. ![]() Note that the two series can also be distinguished by paper. The crown in circle type also has a Roman numeral IV that appears four times in an entire sheet, therefore any portion of a Roman numeral indicates the 1899 series. On some specimens it may not be possible to observe with certainty the subtle differences between the two types. ![]() Therefore any single stamp will only show a portion of the complete watermark.
